About

An ex-programmer and CIS professor, in early 2003 Lucretia M. Pruitt left the glamorous world of academia for the fast-paced world of being a stay-at-home-Mom. But once a geek, always a geek. Her blogging habit started back in 1998 and she’s had one or more ongoing blogs since. After years wading about in Social Media she discovered Twitter and the unique environment enticed her to jump into Social Media both feet first.

Around the same time, she started a blog  at GeekMommy.net to try express the whole “21st Century Mom” experience – but ended up only writing about technology & the emerging field of Social Media marketing.  But after one too many encounters with folks who saw the word “Mommy” and missed all the rest, she realized that the time had come to move on to the next stage and focus on her professional passions.

So she started The Social Joint as a way to explore the ever-evolving world of New Media.

When she’s not blogging here at The Social Joint, Lucretia can be found speaking at various conferences and seminars (please see Upcoming Events in the side bar) or working with companies to help them develop Social Media Strategies.
